Sound Doctrine

I want to expound on a verse that seems to have people in some confusion. Matthew 16:18-19 Jesue replied "And I tell you that you are Peter and on this rock I will build my church and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. I will you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven."

I want to discuss what this does NOT mean!! It does not mean "Satan I bind you" when trouble occurs, it does not mean "I bind sickness" ect. What this type of scripture grabbing show's is bad doctrine. How do we maintain good doctrine. What ever you speak, teach, hear is there enough witness of it in the New Testament? If not, do not speak it.

Lets look at Lk 22:31 "Simon Simon, Satan has asked to sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for you Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers." No where did Jesus tell him or disciples to bind Satan. Notice also Satan needed permission from God the Father before he could touch him.

Lets go to 1 Th. 2:18" We wanted to come but Satan stopped us." They stayed in Athens and sent Timothy instead. They did not bind Satan, nor rebuke him.
Acts 9:25 When the Jews were watching and waiting to kill Paul, "His followers took him by night and lowered him in a basket through an opening in the wall" so he could escape. No mention of a prayer meeting of binding Satan.

No where in the New Testament will you find Christ or disciples or early church using the statement (Satan we bind you) or (Sickness/trouble we bind you). We live in a time that suffering is not taught as a blessing, as an honor from God.

Acts 5:40-41 After being flogged, (look that up) The apostles left rejoicing because they had been counted WORTHY of suffering disgrace for the Name.

Listen to Paul in Phil 3:10 "I want to know Christ and the power of his Resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death." Did you get that? And the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings...

Every time someone who is born again says "Satan I/we bind you" what you are really saying is God we bind your hands.. Sounds foolish doesn't it, but that is what you do. We are blood bought children and nothing can harm us without first going to our Father for permission.

Romans 8:35 "Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or war." These things will be in our life and he is telling us that even in these things it does not mean he does not love us, but they are there for our own good, they come that God might be glorified in us. (That is another study :) )

1Ti 5:23 "Stop drinking only water, use a little wine because of your frequent illness." Why didn't Paul just tell him to "bind that sickness" "don't claim it".
Are you getting the understanding of how to get sound doctrine??

Then how should we think, pray? That is simple, Mat 6:9 "This , then, is how you should pray. Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread, forgive us our debts as we also forgive our debtors and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the EVIL ONE."
* It is to our heavenly Father we ask to deliver us from the evil one.

Now there are a ton of scriptures to stand on for this. James 1, Jude which is written by Jesus half brother had a lot to say about this "binding Satan" Jude 1:8 "In the very same way, these dreamers pollute their own bodies, reject authority and slander celestial beings. But even the archangel Michael, when he was disputing with the devil about the body of Moses, did not dare to bring a slanderous accusation against him, but said " The Lord rebuke you".
*Even angels know.

I am going to close with this last one Phil 4:11-13 "I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do everything through him who give me strength.." What is the secret? Total trust in Christ Jesus and Him a lone.

Jeremiah 15:1
Even if Moses and Samuel were to stand before me, my heart would not go out to these people.
Israel had sinned against God over and over and God was getting ready to punish her and the land. Now the Word of God is clear, that we (the church) are unnatural branches grafted in, if He did not spare the natural why do we think He will spare the unnatural? The Church is fallen into darkness as Israel has, OT had Mose's and the law, NT we have Jesus and grace; we speak Jesus but our hearts are far from Him. We are unforgiving, unloving, liars, thief's. We are unchanged, we are still born babies, started out right but we aborted the seed of faith by rebellion.. We use grace as a license to sin not the means to be holy. Look at the church today, body piercing, tattoos, women wearing tight body fitting clothing that men who are seeking God are distracted into dark lusts of their hearts that they are battling to overcome, where are the ministers, the preachers to make the sanctuary a holy place where God comes and meets His people. Church today is like a social hall, so much chatter, no reverence for the sanctuary, to be still, to be fearful, because all were expecting the King of kings and the Lord of lords. There was a time when I was young you were stopped at the door of the church if not properly dressed, Deacons job was to watch that all was being reverent and in expectation of the Holy Spirit. Which by the way many say "O the Spirit of the Lord is here", No He is not, but churches have been drinking from muddy waters so long they do not know what clean water tastes like. Some ministers feel it is the Holy Spirits job to convict people to act right, do right, dress right, but Jer. 15 makes it real clear, their suffering was because of the king that lead them...

Choices

Choices, When the hour of our salvation comes by the power of the Holy Spirit we have a choice to receive Christ or reject Him. After we receive Him, we have a choice to obey Him or continue to walk in sin. Heaven and Hell is our choice not God's, for it is His will that all be saved! This past Sunday my pastor preached on Choices and the losing of your salvation, this is a serious split of opinion in every church and every denomination. Once saved always saved, or you can lose your salvation if you continue in sin. Jesus states in Mat 7: Many will come to me on that day and say Lord, Lord, did we not prophecy in your name, cast out demons in your name and do miraculous healing in your name, and He will say "Away from me you worker of iniquity for I never knew you" 1John say's "He who says he loves Me and yet does not obey Me is a liar and the truth is not in him" Paul said, if we barely make it my the skin of our teeth what say you? I am from the school of Hebrews, I believe you can be deceived into believing you are going into the kingdom of God, but they will face the Jesus of Mt 7. Our soul is to valuable to gamble away eternity. I have sister's in Christ who will disagree, but then I have to question, do they disagree because of the comfort of their sins, that sin has deceived them into believing a lie? My soul is to valuable so I choose the narrow path. More is spoken on the lose of salvation then on the security of it. I will end with this, Proverbs "The beginning of wisdom is the fear of the Lord".

New Beginnings

Well another Sunday morning... Today we had another one of the asst. pastor's preach, (our pastor will be back next Sun.) This Morning it was on new beginnings. How people make new year's resolutions and never keep them. How we as Christians when we become born again have a new beginning with our life. The old life is passed away and we have a clean start with God, a clean slate. It is the journey of that new beginning that will tell the difference between if it was real or only emotion or religion. Are we drawing closer to God or farther away? Are we changing daily to over come those things that does not please our heavenly Father, or are we the same?
Are we easily convicted of sin or are we impartial? Are we grieved because we have not over come or is our conscience seared? As the new year begins, let us stay firmly committed to Christ our Savior for soon we will stand before Him. And if we are back slid den, let us go to war by turning off our TVs and setting aside any other idol that besets us and get on our knee's for we are fighting the fight of our lives, we are fighting for our soul's which are eternal and once we leave here there will be no second chances.

A Christmas Poem


Twas the night Jesus came

Twas' the night Jesus came
and all through the house,
not a person was praying,
not one in the house..

The Bible was left
on the shelf without care,
for no one thought
Jesus would come there..

The children were dressing
to crawl into bed,
not once ever kneeling
or bowing their head..

And Mom in the rocking chair
with babe on her lap,
was watching the Late Show
as I took a nap..

When out of the east
there rose such a clatter,
I sprang to my feet
to see what was the matter..

Away to the window
I flew like a flash,
tore open the shutters
and lifted the sash..

When what to my wondering
eyes should appear,
but Angels proclaiming
that Jesus was here..

The light of His face
made me cover my head...
was Jesus returning
just like He'd said.

And though I possessed
worldly wisdom and wealth,
I cried when I saw Him
in spite of myself..

In the Book of Life
which he held in his hand,
was written the name
of every saved man..

He spoke not a word
as he searched for my name,
when He said "it's not here"
My head hung in shame..

The people whose names
had been written with love,
He gathered to take
to his Father above..

With those who were ready
He rose without sound,
while all of the others
were left standing around...

I fell to my knees
but it was too late,
I'd waited too long
and thus sealed my fate.

I stood and I cried
as they rose out of sight,
Oh if only I'd known
that this was the night.

In the words of this poem
the meaning is clear
the coming of Jesus
is now drawing near...

There's only one life
and when comes the last call,
We'll find out that the Bible
was true after all..

Choices



This mornings sermon was done by our assistant pastor, what an anointed brother in Christ. He spoke on "CHOICES" How choices affect our lives. Even when we do not make a choice, we made a choice :). We choose to love, we choose to forgive or not forgive, what ever the choices, it will effect our life and walk with Christ. God who is always wise, all knowing, and forever faithful has never failed us, but yet we do not always do things His way, but our own, even though our own has never proven to bring about any good fruit, only regrets. We must also be diligent studiers of the Word so that we can make wise decisions. We study the Word of God to know Him, not know it all.
As I listened and prayed I looked over the journey of my own life and the Choices I have made. I have made many good choices, but I have also made bad one's. I chose to smoke even though the Holy Spirit had convicted me to stop, and now after many years my vocal cords are shot, I use to sing and sing beautifully, but because I chose to continue in a path He warned me not to, this is the consequence. I was warned several times in a dream not to marry a man, I made the wrong choice and did not listen but married him any way, because I FELT I was in love and now the consequence of that wrong choice is I am divorced. I share this, a life journey of almost 35 years in Christ, that other's may learn from the many mistakes, the many bad choices I have made and make better choices. Because with every choice of your life you will reap the consequences of that choice. But never forget, that God still loves us, but like a child you tell "do not touch the fire for you will get burned" the child chooses to ignore and makes the choice to touch, he is burned and cries out, you comfort him because you love him, but because of his bad choice, his hand is scared, and even in this, he will learn obedience, as we learn obedience to our heavenly Father.
